DARRYL EWING

Darryl Ewing has more than 15 years of experience in media and corporate marketing communications, and has been certified in personal fitness training by the American Council on Exercise since 2001. As a former full-time communications professional with three Fortune 500 companies and one of the largest public relations agencies in the nation, Ewing understands the challenges of integrating fitness into a busy professional schedule. He is a former adjunct lecturer in journalism at the University of Texas and teaches journalism and marketing communications at the University of Houston. He also works as a marketing communication consultant through Ewing Strategic Communications in Houston.
 
As a 40+ professional, Ewing appreciates the challenges of Baby Boomer and Generation-X athletes regarding exercise recovery and fighting past excuses to stay motivated for long-term fitness. He has conducted group outdoor fitness training in Houston through Back in the Saddle Fitness. An avid runner since college, Ewing has completed more than 25 half marathons, 10Ks and outdoor fitness obstacle course challenges in the last several years.
 
Ewing has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in newspaper journalism from the University of Texas and the Ohio State University, respectively. In addition to his public relations work and teaching, he was a reporter and news desk supervisor at The Associated Press in Dallas, and completed internships at the Atlanta Journal, the Des Moines Register and the Austin American-Statesman.
